Choosing a Childcare Provider

In this meetup, Disa and Scarlett, two members of our parenting meetup group, will help us navigate the challenging task of choosing a childcare provider.

Disa most recently worked as a Program Advisor/Licensing Specialist for the Ministry of Community and Social Services where she worked on licensing childcare in Toronto. She will cover such topics as:

• How licensed childcare works
  
• Tools to locate childcare options
  
• Navigating wait lists
  
• City of Toronto program criteria
  
• What to do if you have concerns
  
• And more!
  

Scarlett is a childcare provider with Early Childhood Education (ECE) training and one of our most active parenting group members. She will discuss what to look for in a childcare provider, how to find a service provider that matches your parenting style and how to open dialogue with your provider about touchy subjects such as discipline, managing developmental milestones (like toileting) and other sensitive issues. She will offer practical suggestions for creating a positive collaborative relationship with your child's care provider.

Cost: $5 in advance, $7 at the door.

Meetup fees are used to help support the administrative costs of using meetup.com, to provide honourariums to our guest speakers, and to cover costs associated with use of the space (water, toilet paper, etc.) Thank you for your support and for helping build a conscious parenting community!
